bubba at the beach

the first night at the beach, will chose not to sleep very well so i slept in until 8:40. it was delightful. however, during that time, will re-named himself . . . to "bubba." yes, i said bubba. (we Do live in SE Texas, obviously.)
do not ask me how, i may never know the exact route of conversation that led to this decision but he calls himself bubba. maybe he will forget. so this post is in honor of bubba, at the beach.
bubba likes to play in the sand but no castles, he destroys them each time one is formed.this is bubba's family. notice bubba's mama, she has changed since her former crystal beach days. i think she is wearing a floppy hat and a t-shirt while her children wear life jackets in order to avoid drowning! she has grown up so much, bless mama's heart. bubba does not like teething, sand or those darn swim diapers, they irritate his rear. :)

bubba loves watermelon but what bubba doesn't?

all the activity wears a boy out, even bubba. he sleeps on his ma. i am sure every bubba has a ma and a pa. :)

you may be surprised but bubba cleans up really well.

bubba's daddy does not think little boys should hold flowers, but his mama thinks he is darling.

i am just glad bubba's real name is will - he looks like william christopher in this pic.

no matter what they call themselves, they are mine and i love them dearly. i am proud of them too, can you tell?

** i did work with the colors on some of these pics, i guess i am trying to be pioneer woman with no photoshop. :)

Colorado

entering beautiful rocky mtn national park
the 3 big kids - getting ready for the hayride at the YMCA of the rockiesMa tried to contain the nuk king & queen as we roasted marshmallows after the hayride.
the guys & girls at sprague lake - this was our most beautiful day, not hot but not freezing!

Big Thompson River - the kids loved climbing into the caves.Did I mention it was chilly? It snowed one day, we could not make it up Trailridge Road but it did not stop us from picnic-ing. It takes a blizzard for Larsons to not eat. We were so blessed that Aunt Laura shared her home with us, the kids learned a lot and we made great memories. God is sooo good!

amarillo by morning

we are in amarillo and staying at a drury inn, very nice, we are enjoying ourselves. i think we may believe we are on vacation or something. last week was wonderful, i will post pics soon but first i must post a convo between claire & luke at sprague lake.

Claire & Luke are walking on a trail around the lake.

L: claire, let's count to 7. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7!

C: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

L: now, let's count backwards from 7. 7 6 5 4 3 2 1!

Claire keeps walking.

L: claire, now you count back from 7. come on claire!

C: (turning to walking backwards) 1 2 3 4 5 6 7!

priceless, can we call that higher order thinking?!?!?

sleeping woes

why is it some children cannot sleep anywhere but their own bed? will hates his pack-n-play in estes park,co. however, it is sooooo beautiful, that makes up for it.

as i type, i am looking out a huge window into the snow capped rocky mountains. we went to the ymca of the rockies today and the kids fished. we signed up the older 3 for 1/2 day camp tomorrow. we plan to travel up trailridge road but it is closed due to 2 feet of snowdrift, maybe wednesday.

it is was 42 degrees this a.m. when i went to the store. brrr. it would be really tolerable if not for the wind. tonight, we are going on a hayride that concludes with roasting marshmallows & hot cocoa. the kids are so excited, hope will makes it on no nap! well, gotta go look out the window. just thought i would blog a bit since i know all 3 of my readers are dying to know any details.
