i have had my ipod almost 8 mos. i learned how to make a playlist..tonight. better late than never. the title is "workout" - how smart of me to think of doing that instead of sorting thru tons of songs every 41/2 minutes as i am sweating on the treadmill or most likely the bike - spinning class could hurt me.
seeing family over Easter was enjoyable and we had a pleasant time, i still plan to post pics from our trip but it will not happen tonight & probably not tomorrow. my computer can only take so much & now i am downloading songs/syncing ipod.
it has been a little nuts since we got back, i feel scattered. each of the 3 have ran random fever for days. i went to a funeral today & visitation yesterday for a very dear friend, teresa who died suddenly. i did my student teaching with her in 1995, she was the best kindergarten teacher ever and happened to have taught the youngest pearson. (bless her heart - she must have had more patience than mrs. alford and did not care that A had a ghetto kindermat.)
i looked up to her so much & she was the kindest, most compassionate lady. honestly, i loved her bunches. she taught me so much but she also was an everlasting friend. we could "catch up" in just a matter of minutes! she had a gracious attitude about life and she genuinely loved Jesus. if she had anything negative to say, she kept it to herself. she was a very devoted wife & mother, never putting her needs before someone else.
when i did my student teaching, i desired to marry ...right then. i broke off an idiotic relationship and was ready for God to bless me right then. she was always telling me to relax, trust God & reminding me that good things come to those who wait on Him. as i saw her husband albert the past few days, i thought of their strong love for one another and the constant faith, communication and peace between them that helped mold 3 beautiful children.
she was so encouraging to me as a young teacher & when i think of sallie curtis elementary, she is the 1st thing on my mind. when she was going to be absent at school, she always left me a note telling me she would be gone, reminding me to check on her sub & always placed a scripture on my desk and signing "tk duff." after i married and worked at curtis, she called me larson & i called her duffel, we always used our last names but when she was encouraging me or speaking a kind word, she called me hil. i went by to see her in the fall when faith was struggling in kdg. she was very witty & yet so sweet to me as i babbled & worried about MY 6 year old. i was the parent now & she was really enjoying it! i said we were having such kdg. drama & she said, "what do you expect? faith is YOUR child!"
one thing i learned? life is short. tell people you love them, stop & pray for that friend when you think of them, send them a card. stop & visit for a few minutes, the memory will last a lifetime.
it seems as though she was taken to early but then again, who am i? i struggle with God's sovereignty. He chose a precious servant, and i am sure He said, "well done good & faithful servant, well done." so, i am choosing to pray my heart will say, blessed be Your name.

what a nice tribute to mrs. duffel, hil. you are a really good writer, you must get that from mom. :)
i have thought of her a lot this week. i don't really remember much since i was so young, but she was so pretty and always smiling. and she used to have to separate me and richard knox during nap time...
we are both blessed to have learned from her.
I remember her from doing my student teaching at Curtis. She was a very sweet lady.
And so sorry that the outfit was left out in the elements all those days. My mom dropped it off and then called me and I didn't realuize you were out of town. Then I emailed Donna and asked her to get it but I didn't hear back if she did or not. Either way, I'm glad we did not ruin it :)
*realuize* nice :) I meant realize...I should proofread before I publish.
I am so sorry to her bout your friend and mentor. That is so sad...
On another note... what exactly were A and Richard Knox doing during nap time???
he had a way with the ladies, that richard. his dad would drop him off at school in his snap on tools truck. i always thought that was so cool. he was so dreamy...
ad: i think you were talking, not resting....rest time is important to teachers of 5 year olds.
